Introduction
Edinburgh Business School prides itself on preparing its students for the real world of business so they can use the knowledge and skills they gain to give practical benefit to their organisations.
If executives are embarking on a self-study programme, they can apply their new skills from day one, so their organisations benefit immediately from their investment in skills development.
The self-study programme, and the Executive MBA programme, ensure that study is integrated with work, avoiding the problems of long study leave.
Individual courses
All the EBS courses focus on a specific subject and assume no prior knowledge of that subject, so each one can be taken as a stand-alone course offering skills and knowledge to suit specific workplace challenges or individual career goals.
All the courses are fully self-sufficient in their content, so there is no need for access to a university library or traditional textbooks.
On passing the 3 hour exam for each course, the executives will get certificates of achievement to demonstrate what has been accomplished. They can then decide whether to progress to more courses and perhaps pursue an award such as the MBA.

Award-bearing programmes
Courses can be combined into a range of postgraduate awards up to and including the MBA. This enables the progress of the students to be monitored closely by their employers, and enables milestones to be set and achieved if the programme is being funded or sponsored by the employer.
Students can study the courses in any order, they can continue their studies if they need to relocate, and they can be assessed anywhere in the world. Edinburgh Business School runs examinations in approximately 350 exam centres every 6 months.
The Executive MBA programme at Edinburgh Business School is cohort-based and runs over seven long weekends spread over a period of 27 months.
