I was first made aware of the program at Edinburgh Business School by a colleague of mine that had just completed his MBA. At the time, I was in the process of narrowing down my choices of MBA programs and had not considered EBS as an option.
My selection process was simple: I needed a program with (a) the flexibility to complete my studies on my own time and terms and (b) sufficient variety of courses that I could tailor the later stages of my program to my own needs. EBS offered both of these things and more. Firstly, the selection of elective courses available through the Edinburgh MBA far exceeded those offered by my local university. Secondly, and most importantly, the self-study process and exam option times provided me with the latitude to focus my attention on my increasing work responsibilities, and my studies, while still leaving time to spend with my family too.
I anticipate completing my MBA this summer, two years after commencing the program. Since starting my studies I have experienced several significant life changes, including the birth of my first child, two promotions, and a transfer to a new city. I can honestly say that had I chosen any other MBA option, my studies would have been jeopardized with each of these changes and I would not have successfully completed the program within my two-year goal. Equally important, by tailoring my MBA to meet the needs of my employer, I have positioned myself for further growth in my organization in the near future!
