Self-study
You can take all the EBS courses and programmes by self-study. This means you can study them from anywhere in the world and whenever it suits you. All the programmes are modular and studied course by course. Self-study students receive the following:
- Comprehensive course text.
- Interactive course website.
- Web board access to Faculty.
- Full use of the EBS Student Services website.
- Optional contact with peers.
The self-study experience is comprehensive. You are provided with all you require to prepare for exams. There are no additional readings or compulsory residentials. You can also apply, if you want, to take some courses on-campus in Edinburgh or with one of the Approved Learning Partners.
Examinations
Exam sessions are held four times a year. There are 350 exam centres around the world. You can take examinations when you're ready. See Taking exams.

Completion times
As self-study students can proceed at their own pace, completion times vary. As a guide, most students complete the MBA in three years. The DBA can typically be completed by six years' self-study.
