Bilingual (Chinese–English) MBA

The bilingual MBA programme targets Chinese speakers who wish to study full-time at Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University. This group of students will meet the on-campus entry requirements in respect of academic qualifications and work experience but are not expected to meet the normal English-language requirement of IELTS 6.5.

A 10 week pre-sessional English language and cultural orientation programme will run prior to the start of the MBA programme, and thereafter English language tutorial support will be provided one day each month for the duration of the MBA programme. Both elements of this programme are integral to the MBA; the aim of the English language session is to ensure that students have an adequate command of the English language to allow self-sufficiency within the wider community while living and studying in the UK. The cultural orientation session will teach students about Scotland from a historical and social context and will include planned outings and trips. Students will undertake research before trips and be required to complete a language-related task during the trip itself. Trips are carefully chosen for their educational and cultural importance.

Having completed the pre-sessional programme, students will enter Term 1 of the MBA programme and over four terms they will study the seven core and two elective courses that, when successfully completed, will lead to the award of the degree of Master of Business Administration. Classes will be led by EBS Faculty with support and translation by native Chinese speakers.
