Admissions
Before commencing any study, you must complete an Edinburgh Business School DBA Application form (.pdf), which requires you to provide an outline of your proposed area of research. This must be sent to Edinburgh Business School in the UK for review along with two references and an official transcript of your Masters degree.
The entry criteria are 5 years experience and a relevant Masters degree – either an MBA or an MSc in business and management subject(s), or a relevant PhD. If English is not your first language and if you have not studied in English for you Masters degree , you must also provide evidence of competence in English language in the form of an IELTS/TOEFL score.
For IELTS/TOEFL, Edinburgh Business School requires the following minimum language scores.
TOEFL:
- 637 (paper-based test)
- 270 (computer-based test)
- 110 (Internet-based test)
IELTS: 6.5
There is no fixed start date for the DBA programme; you can apply and commence your studies at any time of year.
You should also consult the Finding a Research Topic Briefing Note before completing the DBA Application form. The DBA Student Handbook gives guidance and provides background information on EBS and the DBA programme, as well as procedural guidance notes and regulations.
If the DBA Admissions team decide that your existing Masters level qualifications are not suitable for the subject of your thesis idea, you may be advised to undertake an Edinburgh Business School MSc programme.
