I began studying for my MBA with Edinburgh Business School shortly after the birth of my second child. The distance-learning option meant that I could study at home while still being available to help with the kids, and ensured that I wasn’t a stranger to them or my wife by the time I graduated. With the support of my company, I was able to study flexibly and apply my learnings to real situations as I went along.
Completing the degree equipped me with the tools to handle a broad range of business issues, and was an important factor in my moving to a senior management role within Reed. In addition to teaching me all-important lessons in people and organizational management, the MBA has enabled me to take a strategic view on where our business is now, and where we need to go. In particular the international marketing module that was one of my electives has helped in my close involvement in some major export initiatives.
