After leaving university Gerry worked as a warehouse manager, before joining the production lines at Hewlett-Packard. “That was where I became interested in Information Technology so I went to night class to find out more".

Gerry worked in many roles before becoming a project manager in manufacturing systems at HP. "I enjoyed the global aspect of the company and travelled extensively in both a management and a training role".

Gerry trained to become a teacher. He taught in schools, colleges and universities, but believes his experience is more relevant at Edinburgh Business School. Giving real examples from business increases student learning. "I can combine my academic and industrial knowledge to help put subjects into context".

Gerry is also a qualified tennis coach and you will find him on the local public courts on a Saturday morning.

It’s a challenge to combine work and study. I believe it’s worth it!
