Jane then moved into marketing for the charity and public sectors and became responsible for the communications strategies of various national government funding programmes. Before joining Edinburgh Business School, she was a marketing and communications manager for a national healthcare charity.

Jane co-authored the textbook Consumer Behaviour for the Edinburgh Business School MBA course and is currently undertaking a PhD exploring consumer identity creation and conspicuous consumption.

“From my first lecture in consumer behaviour at university, I knew this was a subject I could get passionate about. Successful marketing relies on a deep understanding of consumers - as individuals and as groups. What we see is just the beginning of the story.”

“Many of our students juggle work, study and family commitments; with two small children, a job and a PhD underway, I understand that this can be both challenging and rewarding”.
