What’s your professional / academic background?

I’m an engineer at heart, who originally started my working life in Industry. During that time (over 20 years!) I kept a close link with academia through the process of life-long learning. Whilst in industry I completed two additional masters programmes (MSc & MBA), and a PhD. It was only when I completed my doctoral research that I started to move over to academia full-time.

My time in industry has given me an excellent perspective on what it means to engage in part-time post-graduation education, and the motives people have in doing so.
 

When did you join the team at EBS?

I joined EBS back in 2015, as the Director of the DBA Programme. However, time moves quickly in academia and I’m now the Deputy Head of School, and Director of Teaching & Learning.
 

What does this involve?

I am responsible for all academic activity with the School. This includes programme development, teaching, and research.
 

What achievement are you most proud of?

Helping students achieve their academic goals.

What is the most enjoyable aspect of your work?

Talking to our graduates and hearing how much the EBS experience has changed their lives for the better, and how much they enjoyed to journey with us. But, I also have to add working with a dedicated, engaged, and committed EBS team is inspiring and fantastic!

What projects are you working on at the moment?

The areas of research I’m currently interested in are how to improve analytical capability within management teams. Other research interests relate to how knowledge, information, and technology capabilities can be developed to support competitive advantage.
