Female candidates invited to apply for scholarships to study in Dubai or Malaysia
Edinburgh Business School and the 30% Club have once again joined forces to offer exceptional women an opportunity to study for an MBA.
This year, female candidates are invited to apply for a full tuition scholarship to attend a part-time MBA at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia and a full or part-time MBA at the Dubai Campus.
Executive Dean of Edinburgh Business School, Professor Heather McGregor, said:
“We all know that diversity and inclusion isn’t just the right thing to do — it’s good for business and our economy. That’s why Edinburgh Business School and Heriot-Watt University work with organisations like the 30% Club, which I was one of the founding members of, to bring change and balance to boardrooms around the world.”
“We know that our scholarships alone are not going to fix the under representation of women in business. Workforce diversity is not just about hiring, but also it’s about retaining and promoting talented diverse professionals into positions of leadership. But by offering scholarships to aspiring business leaders, we are giving them the tools they need to succeed."
“To achieve equality, companies must turn good intentions into concrete action and we, as an educational institution, are doing our bit and offer flexible business education and scholarships to those who are driven and passionate about business.”
Maria de los Angeles Zapata Rodriguez, a 30 year old aspiring businesswoman from Peru, who received a full scholarship last year to study on-campus in Edinburgh, said:
“An MBA was a dream for me, but my financial situation had been an obstacle for me, until I found the 30% Club Scholarship at EBS. I was sure it was the right path for me, and a life-changing opportunity. Now, I’m the first in my family to study abroad."
"I believe that empowered women can build bridges for other women. My ultimate goal is to build a business that supports other women. In other words, to develop a business venture that would ensure equal pay and respect maternity rights."
Applications for both Malaysia and Dubai close on 30 June.
The scholarships are not open to employees of Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University, members of the 30% Club Steering Committee, or anyone else professionally associated with the scheme.
