EBS faculty explain how to grow social enterprise

Assistant professors Laura Jackman and Colin Garvie have volunteered their time and expertise to deliver a special workshop for the School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE), part of Trade Up programme.

The 'Price, Product, Presentation' focused on resourcing and pricing, and invites participants, who are established social enterprises seeking development, to prepare a two-minute pitch to share with the group.

The session equipped attendees, who lead a number of ventures, with new perspective on product pricing and inspired creative thinking in identifying new opportunities and markets.

Laura Jackman said:

“We are delighted to be able to support the Trade-up programme. SSE’s work and the work of the social enterprises that participate in their programmes are so important and valuable and we are delighted to be able to contribute.”

The workshop followed on research Edinburgh Business School’s Professor Laura Galloway and Dr Dimitris Christopolous were recently conducting with SSE, sponsored by the Bank of Scotland in Scotland.

The EBS research explored the experiences and outcomes of the SSE’s ‘Start-up’ programme, and the report Where are they now? An Impact Assessment of the Graduates of the SSES’ Start-Up Programme, 2012-2017 was delivered in September this year.
