Study in Dubai, the business hub of the Middle East

Our programme director, Shirin Jarrar explains what to expect in Dubai.

This MBA is equally relevant to you whether you’re starting a new business or looking to develop your entrepreneurial spirit within an organisation. You’ll hear from international industry leaders on how they’ve used innovation to drive their organisations. And, with a schedule of company visits you’ll have multiple opportunities to experience a range of business perspectives, and grow your international professional network.

Our MBA is an intellectually rigorous programme that uniquely blends key management disciplines with newly-developed courses in entrepreneurship; all taught by globally experienced international faculty. Self-development masterclasses sit alongside our academic courses to support your personal transformation.

If you study our elective, Entrepreneurial Venturing, you will create your own investor-ready business plan. You'll own all the intellectual property (IP) rights associated with your business plan*.

You’ll graduate with a prestigious British Master’s degree from one of Scotland's most international universities, and receive our ongoing support post-graduation and beyond.

Our full and part-time MBA programmes are licensed by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA)
*If you receive funding from an employer or financial sponsor, you must come to an agreement with them on intellectual property rights and ownership.

How is the full-time programme delivered?

Each study year is split into four academic terms; here is an example of how your full-time one-year programme might look.

Full-time one-year MBA programme terms MBA courses
1: Sep – Dec  Marketing
Accounting
Choose an elective eg:
Entrepreneurship and Creativity
2: Jan – Mar (Edinburgh cohort goes to Dubai) Organisational Behaviour
Economics
3: Mar – Jun  Finance
Project Management
4: Jun – Aug (Dubai cohort goes to Edinburgh) Strategic Planning
Choose an elective e.g:
Entrepreneurial Venturing

How is the part-time programme delivered?

Part-time, the programme will be similar to the above format, but spread over two years with eight terms. You will benefit from tutored interaction for each core course and a large amount of your time will be spent studying independently (approximately 200 hours per course)

For all seven core courses there are:

• two two-day seminars (Friday and Saturday), led by an Edinburgh Business School faculty member, that includes simulations, case studies and involves class discussions and
• a two-day revision session (Friday and Saturday) to prepare you for your exam.

These seminars allow a dynamic combination of students with diverse experiences, backgrounds and cultures to share and exchange knowledge in a rich learning environment. The programme is supported by a full-time, dedicated team.

As a part-time student, you are able to choose from a wide-range of elective subjects (detailed below).

"My studies have given me the knowledge and confidence to move to this managerial position and motivated me to start my own business"
